Water Heating & PV Project Summary
A study was performed to determine the cost effectiveness of removing the solar water heating panels and replacing them with solar electric PV panels and a heat pump. The board liked the idea and had PV and a heat pump installed.
ECA assisted with the heat pump design and PV system sizing. The results were that the propane usage was reduced and the condo electric bill reduced as the developer/owner charges less for PV-provided energy than MECO.
An ECA monitoring system alerts the manager if there is a problem with the heat pump system and allows him to keep track of energy usage and water temperatures.
